In the new draft report on 'Health in the post-2015 development agenda,' posted last February 28, 2013, surgery is finally making its way into the conversation. Small, but sure steps. Some changes noted:
1. p.30 "Access to needed services (primary, secondary, and tertiary care, including surgical care at all levels) improves or maintains health."
2. p.33 ".. there is a need for targets and indicators on access to safe anaesthesia and safe surgery, including access to safe caesarean sections, on management of trauma, and on treatment of pain."
3. Acknowledgment of the three groups who submitted position papers on Surgery.
